- Crappie Tourney
We are now at the time for the Annual Grasshopper Festival and Crappie Tournament. Tournament sign-up will be Friday night the 18th at Tommy Nash’s camper. The tournament will begin Saturday morning at 7:30 a.m. and weigh-in will be at 2 p.m. sharp in the open field on the right toward the primitive campsites. Joe Miller has created shirts for the event that will be on sale Friday and Saturday. Let’s not let him down and buy all those shirts. Plagues have been designed for 1st thru 4th place along with certificates. We are also trying our hand at getting some prizes donated to be given away. We have agreed to let the cotton farmers have their cook on Saturday night as they will be going home on Sunday and we are all invited to eat with them. Let’s all have a good time.
- Festival Game s Day
We are having a games day on Saturday, April 26th. There will be games set up in the pavilion at 11 a.m. such as a bean bag toss, skeet balls, a bouncy house, and others. There will be tournaments kids and adults can enter, such as darts, horseshoes, Rook, and Guitar Hero. There will be a small fee for the kids to play the games and a fee for people to enter the tournaments. This will help cover the costs of the small prizes.
Tentative Schedule;
Kid’s games 11 a.m.
Rook Torn 12 p.m.
Darts Tournament 1 p.m.
Horseshoes 2 p.m.
Guitar Hero 4 p.m.
- Crappie Fish Fry
We will have our Grasshopper Festival Fish fry on Saturday the 26th at 6 p.m. Wives will bring desserts for the meal. We will have karaoke after the meal; so everybody get your singing voices ready and practice your songs (even if it’s just in the shower). We don’t worry about if you can or cannot sing; our main objective is for everybody to just have a good time and enjoy each others company.
Fire Department Yard Sale
The Volunteer Fire Department will have their annual Yard Sale on Friday and Saturday May 3-4 at the pavilion. They are currently taking donations of anything that you would like to get rid of. As the saying goes, “One man’s trash is another man’s treasure”. Everyone help them out and bring the stuff you don’t want or need anymore.
